SUMMER 2024 .... Stay Cool

June 3, 2024

How is your SUMMER going so far? It definitely started early!

The month of May we were busy here breaking heat records and July and August are coming up. Since staying cool is the name of the game, let us refresh our options for staying cool.

#1 Stay indoors. Lol.

But let's say you do venture out side...

Keep Hydrated - this cannot be overstated. You probably need more water right now!

Eat Hydrating foods - I read an article that said eating melons is a great way to quickly rehydrate and replace lost electrolytes and minerals. Nuts and seeds are good for that too.

In India, where it has been +11 higher than normal in some spots they say  "Stay hydrated with Ayurvedic drinks: Drink plenty of water infused with herbs like fennel seeds, coriander seeds, or mint leaves. You can also drink buttermilk (lassi), or coconut water to stay cool and hydrated." Also the article recommends, "Wear cooling stones like moonstone or pearl, they can help balance Pitta and keep the body cool. These stones are believed to have a cooling effect on the body."

Loose cotton clothing is very nice ... no undergarments is a game changer. If you haven't tried that, you should.

An oldie but goody, and one I can attest to is, "to cool pulse  points, especially if you feel you are overheating. Applying ice to points on your body where the veins are closest to the surface of the skin - such as the insides of your wrists, your neck, chest and temples - can help you cool down fast. This is because the ice will lower the temperature of your blood, which in turn makes your body feel cooler."

A cool wash towel on your neck is a nice way to cool off... you can make them scented too... but however you do it, this is nice.

For ladies especially, the facial mists are nice, I love Caudalie products and do use the facial mist mentioned here.

And do not forget mans best friend... can you imagine how hot it is for them! I liked the look of these  cooling pad  for dogs.
